Vladimir Yakunin, “Russian Railways” 
On behalf of Russian Railways and on my own behalf, I welcome the participants, guests and organisers of the III International Regional Rail Business Forum “Strategic Partnership 1520: Baltic Region.” The Baltic region is a crucial transport hub and a key element in Eurasian economic cooperation. It unites the interests of both broad and narrow gauge systems, thus promoting development of trans-Europeans railway corridors. The Strategic Partnership 1520 forum provides an effective regional communication platform by bringing together representatives of government agencies and businesses for all-round discussion of the most pressing problems related to the functioning of railway transport in the Baltic region. I am inviting all interested parties to take an active part in the Forum´s business programme. Every point of view is of major importance for optimising approaches to development of the railway industry, creating a suitable and effective scheme for cooperation among all participants in the transportation process. I am convinced that the Forum´s discussions will help determine the basic outlines for the future development of the 1520 and 1435 systems, reinvigorating implementation of joint projects. I sincerely wish all participants in the Strategic Partnership 1520 forum fruitful work and success in our common cause!
