Increase of competition for cargo flows issues a challenge for the railway business – to gradually and intensively raise competitiveness of the “1520 area” transport system. At that, the unity of interests and interdependence of the key players of the transportation process demand consolidation of efforts and joint forming of the “breakthrough” measures for comprehensive and balanced railways modernization. The priority directions of this process are infrastructure, car building, transport service and management system.

As a strategic priority of realization of the “wide” gauge partners’ transport policy, modernization may become a powerful impulse for implementation of modern technologies on the railway transport, fully valid realization of its transit potential, stimulation of private investments, adapting of the world experience and localization of the advanced developments. For the national economies acceleration of transport development is the optimal source for long-term sustainable growth and means for providing social mobility; for industrial corporations it is a real mechanism for decreasing production costs and extension of the world markets presence. The main take-aways for the railway transport will be moving towards the innovation development and successful realization of the key business tasks.
