Forum Summary

II International regional rail business forum "1520 Strategic Partnership: Baltic Region" was held on February 8-10, 2010 in Tallinn, Estonia. During the two days of the Forum, transport issues were presented and discussed by top government officials, representativesof transport and logistic companies, financial institutions, consultancies, client companies that use freight transport, members of industry associations and non-profit organisations. The objective was to identify mutually rewarding solutions for all stakeholders to be able to fulfil the 1520 community'stransport development mission. Apart from sharing their views and expertise on a variety of transport-related topics and issues, forum participants outlined specific approaches to address these issues in the short and the long term. The discussions, arranged in different formats, extrapolated from the existing challenges in realising the transport potential of the Baltic region and were considered both on the scale of the 1520 geography and in the context of interoperability between different transport systems. Offering comprehensive and broad coverage of subject areas coupled with detailed treatment and practical value of the proposed measures, the Forum proved to be a useful communication tool for participants.
