I send my greetings to the participants, guests and organisers of the first International Regional Rail Business Forum “1520 Strategic Partnership: the Caucasus Region”, which will take place in the hospitable city of Baku from 11 to 13 October 2010.
The Azerbaijan Republic lies at the centre of all the region’s transit traffic and is actively participating in the creation of international transport corridors. Moreover, the current increase in the transit potential of the North – South transport corridor, in the context of the implementation of the state programme to develop Azerbaijan’s railways, undoubtedly makes the fact that the forthcoming business forum is being held in Baku especially relevant.
I am convinced that the “1520 Strategic Partnership” forum will be a momentous event for all the “broad gauge” partners and for representatives of other railway systems who have an interest in developing the 1520 area.
I would especially like to note that the forum is timed to coincide with an event which is of historic significance for us – the celebration of the 130th anniversary of Azerbaijan Railways. I am pleased to send greetings to my esteemed colleagues and friends and I wish all our guests effective work and frank discussions!
