On behalf of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Azerbaijan Republic and myself personally I send greetings to the organizers, participants and guests of the International Regional Rail Business Forum “1520 Strategic Partnership: Caucasus Region”.
The close and friendly relationship which has formed between Azerbaijan and Russia extends to all areas of the life of both countries. An important place in this belongs to transport cooperation, the foundation of which is our geographical proximity, the growing scale of our mutual freight traffic, and the experience of whole generations of railway staff who at one time worked in the context of a single transport complex in the same country. The creation of a “North – South” international transport corridor, which would make it possible to strengthen not only Russian–Azerbaijani partnership but also the links between Europe and Asia, could be an important new element in this cooperation.
I am sure that the forum will enrich us all with new knowledge and ideas which will make international cooperation in the field of rail transport more fully responsive to the challenges of today.
I wish everyone who takes part in the work of the forum fruitful meetings, interesting discussions and rich impressions from their stay in Baku.
