On behalf of Russian Railways, I would like to welcome the participants, guests and organisers of the International Regional Rail Business Forum "Strategic Partnership 1520: the Caucasus Region".
Keeping in mind the potential volume of the goods market, estimated at 25-26 million tonnes in 2010, for the North-South International Transport Corridor, as well as the importance of using this route efficiently to develop Eurasian trade relations, we are aware of the need today to meet with partners in the railway business to work together in producing a single, long-term growth strategy.
All of the countries in the region actively participating in the North-South International Transport Corridor project will make way for being able to take advantage of our accumulated potential as effectively as possible to buttress our standing on the international market and augment state revenue.
The meeting of leaders in the transport business to be held in Baku will without a doubt be a significant event and will include discussions on a number of relevant issues.
I would like to call on all participants of this forum to be open-minded and have a constructive attitude during these discussions, and I am confident that they will bring worthwhile results.
