It is my pleasure to greet all participants and guests of this forum. With every passing year your forum is more and more confidently establishing its position as the main business event in the life of the professional community. It is steadily expanding the geography of its participants, and today it brings together not only the countries that make up the “1520 area” but also many other states. This is clearly reflected in the title of the current meeting – “A strategy for integrating the 1520 and 1435 areas: the future of the Eurasian transport system”. You will be discussing a wide range of issues, many of which are directly linked with the preparations for staging some major international sports and public events in Russia. I would note that in the light of this we must pay the closest attention to modernising the railway industry, developing high-speed transport, implementing large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring transport safety and making transport more environmentally friendly – and, of course, to strengthening cooperation relationships. I am sure that the forum’s decisions and the active exchange of opinions and of cutting-edge and sought-after experience that takes place there will find application in practical business.
