Business needs expertsIt is essential to bring views on and practical approaches to building the capacity of staff in the “1520 area” and the “1435 area” closer together, especially in the contemporary context of globalisation, participants in the Deutsche Bahn AG International Business Dialogue decided. Having skilled specialists is a critical factor for stable work in the railway industry. And it is difficult to overestimate the significance of staff resources when it comes to strengthening cooperation between the “1520 area” and the “1435 area”. Karl-Friedrich Rausch, a member of the board of DB Mobility Logistics AG, noted that while at one time railway administrations operated only within the country’s internal borders, now, for example, DB trains are increasingly crossing the territory of other states. This situation places increasing demands on railway personnel, not only in technological terms but also in terms of language and culture. The participants in the dialogue shared their experience in training specialists. Dmitry Shakhanov, Vice President of Russian Railways, cited as a successful example of cooperation in this field the creation by RZD and DB of a joint centre to train specialists on the basis of several industry-related higher educational establishments. The main message of the business dialogue was expressed by Nikolai Nikiforov, Chairman of the Trade Union of Railwaymen and Transport Construction Workers of Russia, who noted that no business can develop without skilled staff.
