III International Regional Railway Business Forum “Strategic Partnership 1520: Baltic RegionThe III International Regional Railway Business Forum “Strategic Partnership 1520: Baltic Region” will be held in Riga on 17-18 October 2011. The key topic of the event is “The Baltic Region: Railway Business on a Trans-European Scale”. The Forum will discuss the mechanisms for interaction between the 1520 and 1435 spaces in the context of development of the transport business in the Baltic region, which is a key transport hub owing to its geographical location. Much attention will be focused on the prospects for the Rail Baltica project and assessment of its competitive advantages in meeting the interests of business structures active on trans-European routes. Other topics of discussion will consist in the most pressing issues facing the railway business including: mechanisms for attracting investment into the sector, enhancing transport competitiveness, improving the quality and broadening the range of services provided and modernisation of the railway infrastructure. The event will be attended by heads of railway administrations of the 1520 and 1435 spaces; heads of major carrier companies, operators and freight owners; representatives of the banking and investment sector, business associations and research institutions. Regional business forums “Strategic Partnership 1520” have been held annually since 2006. In the Baltic region, Riga took part in the Forum in 2008 and Tallinn in 2010.
